OUR SUSTAINABILITY PLEDGE
With fashion being one of the most polluting industries, it wasn’t easy to launch a business without feeling guilty. Creating more waste, requiring new fabrics, new dyes, new trims, new notions, new packaging; the list goes on and on.
When I started Unimpressed Studios, it became imperative to make it sustainable. Sometimes, it’s difficult to meet productions standards (but we are changing the narrative; it’s the industry that doesn’t meet our standards anymore!) and the process is slow and rocky. But this didn’t stop me; it actually gave me more reasons to embark in this adventure and find solutions.
I want to go back to a slower, more mindful fashion. I am Italian, so I’m used to things being made slowly, but with soul and purpose. I believe that nothing will be ever as beautiful as an artisanal piece made with love and intention. This is exactly how Unimpressed Studios clothes are made.
I am using vintage and dead stock materials, sourced from Italian warehouses and California flea markets: 60s groovy bedsheets; 70s Italian wools; original vintage fabric .
This means that mostly all of our pieces are one of a kind; each design is tailored to the available fabric, and once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. Except for some wardrobe staples, the seasonal pieces are one of their own kind, - they are unique.
